UNITED PLASTICS GROUP, INC.’S CONSUMER/MEDICAL DIVISION EXPANDS INTO NEW 80,000 SQ. FT. FACILITY


WESTMONT, IL – July 7, 2000 – United Plastics Group, Inc., a full service manufacturer of plastic products for the electronics, medical, consumer and industrial markets, today announced that their Consumer/Medical Division’s primary plant will expand into a new 80,000 sq. ft. facility in Chicopee, Massachusetts.


United Plastics Group will move molding and assembly operations from their existing plant in Ludlow, Massachusetts to this new environmentally controlled facility in Chicopee by December of this year. This plant will become United Plastics Group’s divisional headquarters for their Consumer/Medical Division, with additional consumer-focused facilities located in Mayfield, Kentucky and Brooksville, Florida.


"This state of the art facility will further enable us to offer our customers with the most innovative technologies that produce the highest quality products," stated William J. Kriss, President and CEO of United Plastics Group. "The facility has the capacity to house 50 molding machines to accommodate the growing needs of our customers in the consumer and medical market segments."


In addition to molding and assembly services, United Plastics Group’s newly expanded Consumer/Medical Division will offer decorating and other secondary operations. This new facility will employ the 200 employees from their existing Ludlow, MA facility and will initially have 25 molding machines ranging from 100 to 1000 ton.
