UNITED PLASTICS GROUP NAMES NEW CEO

Westmont, IL - July 18, 2001 - United Plastics Group (UPG) announced today that President and CEO William J. Kriss will be stepping down. He will be succeeded by Shannon M. White, effective immediately. Mr. White has previously held senior executive positions with Rexam PLC, Aluminum Company Of America, and AlliedSignal Inc.

Bill Kriss is credited with building UPG through an aggressive acquisition strategy to become the 20th largest plastics injection molder, according to Plastics News. Kriss successfully completed five acquisitions and an Asian supply agreement over the past three years. "I am pleased with the global foundation that has been achieved by UPG to competitively supply our customers with the products and service they require. We have built a strong management team with depth and experience and I have complete confidence they will be able to capitalize on this foundation," stated Kriss.
