Shannon
M. White , President & CEO
Shannon White has an impressive track record of creating value and
measurable results at some of the world's most respected manufacturing
companies. Prior to his appointment at United Plastics Group, Shannon
was the Regional Director of Manufacturing for Rexam PLC, a $5.2 billion
international manufacturer of packaging products. Shannon oversaw
eight plants in North America and Mexico. During his tenure at Rexam,
operating income surged 190% in two years, management performance
processes improved dramatically, and key account business penetration
in some cases more than doubled.
From
1996 to 1998, Shannon was a Plant Manager for two plants for Aluminum
Company of America (ALCOA) in their Closure Systems International
division. Here, Shannon transformed corporate culture by creating
a performance-driven and team-based environment. During his time
at ALCOA, he turned this poor-performing division into highly profitable
and nimble business.
From 1992 to 1996, Shannon held key positions with AlliedSignal,
including Manager, Materials & Customer Satisfaction for the
Filters and Spark Plugs SBU; Financial Planning and Analysis Manager;
and Sales and Marketing positions for Pfizer Labs.
Shannon
graduated magna cum laude with an MBA from the University of Southern
California and a BS in economics from the University of Utah. Shannon
lives in Naperville, IL with his wife and five children.
Bruce
L. Smith, Chief Operating Officer
Bruce Smith has over 15 years of experience across several industries
in improving business performance. He has successfully shepherded
the growth and operations of several manufacturing companies including
some of the nation's most respected suppliers to the automotive industry.
Prior
to joining United Plastics Group, Bruce was vice president of Piston
Automotive LLC, an automotive parts assembly business for companies
such as General Motors and Ford, where sales doubled in less than
one year and net income was tripled under his leadership. Previous
to that, Bruce was the director of manufacturing at American National
Can, a $3.2 billion manufacturer of metal beverage cans, where he
was responsible for six manufacturing facilities. In addition to
customer satisfaction improving during Bruce's tenure, operating
income improved significantly through the implementation of a variety
of operational efficiency initiatives.
Bruce
was president and CEO of Diesel Technology Company, a $230 million
manufacturer of heavy-duty fuel injectors. In addition to improving
profitability, Bruce was responsible for creating a Continuous Improvement
Department that expedited improvements in quality, delivery and
costs through the application of lean manufacturing principles and
professional problem solving techniques.
Earlier
in his career, Bruce held key positions at ITT Automotive, including
plant manager for one of ITT's brake systems facilities, and manager
of manufacturing systems. Previous to that, Bruce held various managerial
positions at Delphi Automotive, including manager of manufacturing
systems, manufacturing superintendent, and strategic planning manager.
Bruce received his MBA from Harvard University, and holds a BS in
mechanical engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University.
Richard
R. Harris, Chief Financial Officer
Richard Harris brings a strong record of diverse financial management
experience for various manufacturing operations to United Plastics
Group.
Before
joining UPG, Richard held key management positions at Tenneco Automotive,
a $3.5 billion global manufacturing company, most recently holding
the position of assistant corporate controller. From 1998 to mid
2001, Richard was the controller for Tenneco's North America original
equipment business unit where he was responsible for the financial
activities of this $1.4 billion segment of the company with 26 engineering
and manufacturing facilities in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. Under
his leadership, this business unit experienced an improvement in
profitability through the implementation of a Total Value Management
process.
Richard
was the director of program management and marketing for Tenneco
Automotive North America OE in 1998. Prior to that, while he was
the director of manufacturing operations analysis at Tenneco Automotive
North America OE, Richard controlled all the financial activities
related to 19 manufacturing sites in North America, representing
over $700 million in manufacturing cost. From 1996 to 1997, Richard
was the manager of finance for Tenneco's North American original
equipment exhaust.
Previously,
Richard fulfilled a variety of financial roles at AlliedSignal including
financial analyst for their Longlaville, France facility, senior
corporate auditor, and avionics group analyst for their aerospace
division.
Richard
received his MBA with a concentration in finance from the University
of Southern California, and graduated magna cum laude with BA in
English and a minor in chemistry from the University of Utah.
